What are Geothermal Systems

Geothermal systems

The Shallow Geothermal systems are a subdivision of Geothermy and in combination with the technology of geothermal heat pumps  they can give us the ability to utilize the constant underground temperature του υπεδάφους.

The Earth offers its energy. Let’s use it to our advantage!

Only 1,5 metres below the earth’s surface, the temperature is constant and its energy is waiting to be utilized.

How do we utilize it?

In order to utilize this energy we use geothermal heat pumps technology which draws energy from one source (geological formations (subsoil) or underground water(aquifer)) and distributes it to the building through the chosen heating and cooling installation (eg.fan coil, radiant heating, A/C etc.).

After opting for a Geothermal heat pump for heating and cooling the next step is to select the type of geothermal system.

Geothermal systems are divided into two main categories as follows:

Open loop: Open loop geothermal systems follow these steps:

In an open-loop system we take advantage of the constant temperature of underground water and the heat exchanger is installed in the building.

Procedure for Open Loop Geothermal System

The process from the preliminary study to the installation of an open-loop geothermal system is divided into 3 phases:
1) Preliminary study – Quotation
2) Permit issuance – Final design – Project supervision
3) Installation Process of the geothermal system (under our supervision)

Closed type

In a closed-loop system we take advantage of the constant temperature of geological formations and the heat exchanger is installed underground.

Procedure for Closed Loop Geothermal System

The process from the preliminary study to the installation of a closed-loop geothermal system is divided into 3 phases:
1) Preliminary study – Quotation
2) Permit issuance
3) Final design – Project supervision – Procedure for the installation of the geothermal system (under our supervision)
